"I went to
Denmark with the intention of buying the best mares I could
find. I chose Vanessa
primarily because I was so impressed with her movement.
Vanessa was terrific for me. Remember that all the wins I'm
mentioning here (and I can't remember all of them), were won
by a three year old, up against and beating adult
professionally trained horses. There were an incredible
number of wonderful Fjords in Winona, Wisconsin, at the
big 25th Anniversary of the US Fjord Registry.
At
Winona, and in front of visitors from all over the
world, Vanessa placed 1st in the three and four year old
mare class, 2nd place in cones (13th in class), and 3rd in
pleasure driving (13th in class). She came in 1st in the
log skid and 1st in the farm class giving her the Draft
Horse Championship (12 of the top draft horses in the
class).
In the Vermont show, again as
a three year old, Vanessa came first in everything I entered
her in; 1st in Pleasure Driving, 1st in Reinsmanship and 1st
in Cross-country, winning her the Driving Championship.
Also, she is an evaluated
mare. I had her evaluated at Winona and she received a blue
ribbon (blue is the top colour in USA, red is the top in
Canada) with a score of 81. She is certainly one of the top
20 Fjord mares in North America. For a three year old all
of these scores are totally amazing. Remember she was
beating adult professionally trained horses. She is a
wonderful performance horse, and is also a joy to own,
because not only does she have the abilities I've mentioned,
but she has a very easy and kind temperament, and she will
always give all she's got when you ask it of her.
One more thing about Vanessa.
She's a proven breeding mare. She had an easy birth, was a
great mom, and her foal, Caesar, by Prydarson was bought by
the Watanabe's to be a stallion." |

Blue Raven Farm La Belle
DOB May 28,
2008 Orka/Luna $9000
No doubt about it... La Belle is a beauty. She is very sweet and loves
attention and she will mature as a tall horse. Performance or breeding,
trail riding, dressage... All that you want will be found in this filly.
Voice of our Vet: She is perfect. If I only had the time, La Belle would
be mine. She is so affectionate, she just wants to slip into my pocket. |

Blue Raven Farm Oreo
DOB May 12.2008 Orka/Lilli $8000
Oreo is a very special colt. Very good looking. He would have been an
excellent stallion but we decided that his life would be easier as a good
mount or a good driving horse. He is a red dun but has no red at all in his
mane. The forelock is all blonde, the dorsal stripe in his mane is more
grayish, very light in color, and his tail is blonde as well.

Blue Raven Farm Lola
- SORRY SOLD!
DOB May 16.2009 Orka/Lilli $8500
Lola (nick name Lolita) is a full sister to Oreo and has the same rare
color. One could think they are both yellow dun, except they have the dorsal
stripe. She has a face as sweet as can be and her conformation & gaits are
perfect just like Oreo´s. With both growing to approximately the same
size with a very appealing look, they would be a perfect team for driving
that would blow people away, or as spectacular mounts for twins! They love
to run and they are fast! The character of both are typical for Blue
Raven Farm horses; no kicking, no biting, easy to handle, polite and willing
to work. |

Loriann, with this filly, her extraordinary
colouring & perfect conformation, you have most likely the finest looking
Fjord Horse girl in Nova Scotia. We wish you years and years of pleasure
with this beautiful Fjord! |

Blue Raven foals have a high value.
Why?
BRF imported their breeding stock from Europe (Germany) 1999.
The immense costs to import a European herd, along with significant bureaucratic work and costly quarantine requirements is only justifiable when the horses are outstanding.
BRF imported only top of the line mares and an extraordinary stallion when they immigrated to Nova Scotia.
Pedigrees of BRF horses show that they descend in male or female lines from the most important bloodlines of the Modern Fjord Horse (spring issue Fjord Herald 2000).
The herd includes offspring of: Torbjorn 1417, Gloppang 894, Ola Gik 1703, Valebu 1569, Rei Halsneas D462 NJ833,
Grabb 1651, Dyre 1059, Safir 1717 and Jarmann 1788.
The stallion Njal 166 the “Founding Father” of the modern Fjord Horse shows his “Njal Mark” –a brown spot- on the faces of the most of the BRF horses.
What else?
BRF foals are born in a herd and remain together with the mares and the stallion
- and with their buddies.
With all the freedom we provide, they get handled well (calm, friendly but firm) from the very beginning.
The coming yearlings stand tied, pick up their feet politely, lead and go on the trailer. They are very confident, don't kick or bite and do all that you can expect from such youngsters.
Some North American Breeders go over to Europe to buy and import one or more foals or a stallion.
Why not have a look domestically? BRF has already done the import work for you! |
